Transitional Year Residency

Welcome to the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria Transitional Year Residency Program.

Our program is housed within OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL, and our parent program is the Internal Medicine Residency Program. We are fortunate to have great faculty in the Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Combined Med-Peds, and Surgery departments all contributing knowledge and expertise to the residents in our program.

The program here at UICOMP is a one-year program that serves as the clinical base year prior to advanced residencies such as Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Diagnostic or Interventional Radiology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, etc.

The program’s educational focus is to teach future subspecialists foundational skills in medicine and to develop healthcare professionals who are well-prepared to enter advanced residency training. Successful applicants will enjoy a diverse year of training as they prepare to enter their advanced training programs.

Thank you for your interest in our program!
