Senior Scholars

Senior Scholars

The Senior Scholars program is a group of retired and retiring physicians who are dedicated to developing a collaboration of experienced physicians and education advocates within the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria to enrich the learning environment.

Senior Scholars participate in as many or as few activities as they wish, including volunteer teaching and attending monthly lectures. The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria depends on community physicians to teach medical students and residents, to provide mentorship, and to help meet the service needs of the College.

The Senior Scholars program makes it easy for retired or retiring physicians to share their knowledge and skills with learners. Senior Scholars is rewarding; it’s an opportunity to give back to the profession, to give back to the medical school, the community, and to help guide tomorrow’s physicians.

The Senior Scholars co-chairs are Dr. William Albers and Dr. Reid Hansen.
