Pediatrics: Life of a Resident

Resident Wellness Heading link

Our program is very committed to resident well-being. Stress and burnout are not unfamiliar situations during one’s medical training.

We offer wellness noon conferences, wellness lunches, wellness activities and fun resident retreats. Our residents have a lot of fun with our various additional events such as cookie baking, pumpkin decorating, Valentine exchanges, a resident golf outing, and Christmas parties, to name a few. The golf outing and Christmas party are especially fun as they are GME-wide. All residents get together and have fun while faculty cover their patients.

Our X+Y schedule offers a half day for administrative activities and a half day for research, providing some downtime as well.

Our residents also have access to formal wellness resources such as CBCT® (Cognitively Based Compassion Training), a practice to cultivate self-compassion and develop sound stress relief techniques. The Clinician Care Program and the Center for Wellbeing offer counselling services to our residents and work around resident schedules.
