Facilities
Didactic and clinical education is a primary mission of UICOMP Department of Emergency Medicine. Medical student education is a cooperative effort with the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria and its affiliated partner institutions, OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and UnityPoint Health – Peoria.
Training for the Emergency Medicine residents is based at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center with rotations at OSF Saint James and Pekin Hospital.
OSF Saint Francis Medical Center
OSF Saint Francis Medical Center is a 609 bed, tertiary care facility. The Emergency Department, sees about 90,000 patients annually in this 57 bed unit which also includes two dedicated trauma bays, a satellite laboratory, routine x-ray equipment, and CT scanner. It is part of the Milestone build that opened in July 2010 and has a unique “pod” designs creating an excellent patient care and working environment. This training site also services a Level One Trauma Center, Stroke Center, Heart Hospital, Base Station hospital for area EMS, the Children Hospital of Illinois and busiest medical helicopter program in the state of Illinois, OSF Life Flight.
Jump Simulation
Jump Simulation is a world-class facility focusing on simulation education and research and provides classroom and lecture hall space. The emergency medicine residents use this facility for most of their didactic and simulation education.
