Getting Started

Step 1

Complete an Experimental Design and Planning Request Form.  A Research Services team member will contact you to schedule your initial meeting.

Step 2

Complete CITI at www.citiprogram.org.

This is free to learners who affiliate with UICOMP or OSF. If you register as an Independent Learner or need a CME credit, there will be a charge from CITI.

Step 3

Obtain approval from your Department Head, GME, or Dean’s Office. If you are a student, you must have a mentor. Research Services may be able to help you with that.

Step 4

Register in IRBNet at www.irbnet.org.

There is “New User Registration” in the upper right corner below the login boxes.  Please affiliate with the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria.  You may have more than one affiliation.

Once registered in IRBNet, a new user will receive an email that will include a link to activate the registration in the body of the email. The new user will need to “activate” the registration before accessing IRBNet.

Step 5

Submit your study to the Peoria Institutional Review Board.

Will you be doing research at OSF HealthCare System or using their data? Heading link

Visit the Starting New Research page of the OSF website for more information.  The OSF Research Intake Coordinator will help answer any questions you may have regarding the OSF process.

OSF forms may be found at: https://x.osfhealthcare.org/patients-visitors/clinical-research/investigators-coordinators/forms-templates-policies.

Email forms directly to osf.clinicalresearch@osfhealthcare.org.

After your initial consultation, Research Services can help schedule a meeting with OSF Ministry HealthCare Analytics (MHA) for OSF data analytics.  Once you have obtained OSF approval, submit your study to the Peoria IRB via IRBNet.
