About
Undergraduate: Illinois Wesleyan University
Medical School: University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford
I grew up in central Illinois less than an hour from Peoria in a small, rural community. I have always loved the area I’m from and tried to stay close home for both undergrad and medical school training. Being so attached to the area, I was so lucky to get into a residency program close to home with many unique, small communities in the area while also having many of the benefits of bigger institutions and city life.
I knew I wanted to be a physician at a really young age after growing up watching the television show ER with my mom. My transition to pursuing family medicine didn’t occur until medical school when I realized how much I enjoyed building longitudinal relationship with patients. I have a special interest in women’s health and OB but enjoy the diversity and breadth of family medicine in all its aspects. I hope to go on to practice in a rural community like the one I’m from.
During medical school I got married to my husband who also works in the medical field as an EMT. We have a rescue dog, Xander, who takes up a lot of our free time with his shenanigans. When I do have a free moment and free energy, I love to read primarily fiction. I spend equal amounts of time vegging on the couch watching movies and streaming Netflix with my husband and dog- we love everything from nature documentaries to action packed thrillers to rom coms so are always down for a movie night.
