DONOR ADVISED FUNDS
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving vehicle that allows you to make a tax-deductible donation today and then recommend gifts (known as grants) to charities from the fund over time. Not only do contributions have immediate tax benefits, but they also grow tax-free in the account to provide a greater impact. DAFs are a convenient and tax-efficient way to facilitate charitable giving and achieve your philanthropic goals.
If you already have a DAF and would like to send a gift to the University of Illinois Foundation for the benefit of the UICOMP, your fund administrator may send a check payable to the University of Illinois Foundation to:
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS COLLEGE OF MEDICINE PEORIA
Attention: Office of Advancement
1 Illini Drive
Peoria, IL 61605Please ask the donor-advised fund provider to indicate your selection for UICOMP and the specific fund the distribution should be allocated for. Please note, donors may not receive benefits from DAF distributions.
The University of Illinois Foundation’s tax identification number is: 37-6006007.
Our DAF widget will allow you to link to your DAF directly. If your fund is not listed in the widget, please go directly to your DAF’s website and choose the University of Illinois Foundation as the charity of choice when directing a donation.
If you have questions or your fund administrator prefers to send funds via a wire, please contact the Foundation Cash Receipts Department for additional instructions at cashdesk@uif.uillinois.edu or (217) 244-0352.
Types of Gifts Heading link
-
Current Use/Unrestricted
Unrestricted funds are a very powerful form of private support because they allow the University to use them as it sees fit, where current (and often time-sensitive) needs are greatest.
Unrestricted funds may be used for many kinds of assistance, including:
- Student support
- Faculty support
- Research aid
- Technological upgrades
-
Endowments
Endowments make it possible for a gift to live on in perpetuity, preserving the principal and utilizing its earnings to support the intent of the fund. Endowments help fund faculty chairs and professorships, graduate fellowships, undergraduate scholarships, program support, visiting scholars/lectureships, research support, student internships, and more. An endowment can be created through an outright gift, through a bequest in a will, or through a life income gift such as a charitable gift annuity or a charitable remainder trust. Learn more about endowments by contacting Kelli Evans at kevans14@uic.edu or (309) 671-3405.

Planned Gifts
UICOMP is continually strengthened by the generosity of our dedicated alumni and friends. As you reflect on your own goals, we hope that you will also consider a planned gift to the University of Illinois Foundation (“UIF”) to benefit the College through your will, living trust, or retirement plan. There are also ways to structure a gift to provide a lifetime income stream to yourself and/or a loved one while receiving an immediate income tax deduction. We are happy to share customized illustrations for these types of arrangements at no cost or obligation.
