UICOMP Receives Peoria Proclamation
At the May 25 meeting of the Peoria City Council, Mayor Rita Ali issued a proclamation honoring the 50th anniversary of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria. Founded in 1970 as the Peoria School of Medicine, UICOMP was recognized for its 2,000-plus alumni physicians, residency training programs, the patient care and cutting edge research. In addition, its role in collaborating, shaping and supporting the healthcare enterprise of Peoria was also acknowledged.
UICOMP Interim Regional Dean Meenakshy Aiyer, MD, and Kelvin Wynn, MD, Professor and Chair of Family Medicine, were present to receive the award.
