About

Albert (A.J.) Pool is a Peoria area native who began his college career at Illinois Central College (ICC), earning his A.S. in biology in 2015. He spent the next seven years tutoring math and science in ICC’s Academic Support Center while also earning a B.S. in Health Science with a minor in Health from Bradley University in 2017. A.J. then moved to St. Louis to pursue his M.P.H. with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to working at UICOMP, A.J. spent a year working for the Brown School’s Health Communication Research Laboratory as a research project coordinator. His research focused on unmet basic/social needs in disadvantaged communities both in St. Louis and across the United States. A.J. is now a research specialist in the Division of Research Services, working in Academic Affairs. His role involves advising students in their research endeavors and assisting researchers on various projects.
