About

Dr. Maksimovic was born in Hobart, Indiana and grew up in NW Indiana. From there, he moved on to Chicago, completing his undergraduate education at Loyola University Chicago. Unsure of what he wanted to do after college, he did research at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, working with physicians to study clotting disorders. He went on to complete his DO from Des Moines University in Iowa. Having a strong interest in Family Medicine, he completed his residency at the UICOMP Family Medicine Residency in 2010.

After graduation, he worked in Urgent Care in Peoria for two years. He then followed his wife to Wisconsin for her fellowship, where he worked as a float Family Medicine physician in Wisconsin. Upon returning to Peoria, he started a clinic at OSF to bridge care in patients without primary care providers and medical homes. He was offered an opportunity to join as faculty in 2019 and has been focused on ambulatory medicine since returning to the residency.

He met his wife, Jane, in medical school and they have one daughter, Ava. Dejan enjoys sports, gardening, and photography. He also enjoys woodworking, taking up the hobby shortly after completing residency. You may see his work in the precepting room soon as he gifted a desk to the faculty precepting area.
