Simulation Education

Residents do a simulation exercise at Jump Simulation center

Simulation-based learning provides an exciting, dynamic way for residents to develop new skills in a controlled environment with real-time feedback.

Our robust simulation curriculum spans all years of residency and makes use of the Jump Simulation Center — a state-of-the-art, multimillion dollar educational facility complete with simulated ICU, OR, ambulance bay, ambulatory clinic and hospital ward, a large collection of high-fidelity mannequins, virtual reality tools, and more.

Our simulation curriculum includes:

  • “Day in the Life of an Intern” simulation
    • Part of Intern Orientation
    • Practice core clinical skills before starting on the wards (e.g. presenting patients, calling consults, giving signout)
  • Patient de-escalation simulation
  • Mock Code Blue
  • “In situ” Code Blue simulations (2-3 per month in the hospital)
  • Central line training (each month)
  • VR Code Blue Simulations
  • POCUS Simulator with real-time anatomy displayed alongside simulated ultrasound image
