About

Burhan A. Khan earned his B.A. in Biology from Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) and his M.Sc. in Microbiology & Immunology from Tulane University School of Medicine (New Orleans, LA). He completed two NIH intramural research training fellowships at the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases, where he studied (1) the molecular and genetic pathogenesis of Staphylococci infections, and (2) the innate immune response to neurotropic viruses (HSV-1, Zika). He received his M.D. from the University of Queensland Faculty of Medicine (Brisbane, Australia) where he also conducted research on the oncogenic role of host-pathogen interactions in the laboratory of Ian Frazer AC. He provides research support for the UICOMP departments of Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Med-Peds.
