Dr. Jeziorczak joined the Department of Surgery faculty in 2017 and is currently a Visiting Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics. He also serves as Associate Program Director and Director of Simulation Education for the General Surgery Residency Program. Dr. Jeziorczak graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria with his MPH and MD. He completed his general surgery training at Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals, and completed a pediatric surgery fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in both General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery.
Dr. Jeziorczak’s contributions to his patients, the University, the community, and his profession are vast. He is a tireless contributor on many levels to the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, the Department of Surgery, patient care, and OSF Saint Francis Medical Center/Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Dr. Jeziorczak contributes extensively to the education of both medical students and residents as an attending physician on the Pediatric Surgery Service and as an Associate Program Director for the General Surgery Residency Program. As the Director of Simulation Education for the general surgery residents, Dr. Jeziorczak determines the best simulation curriculum and guidelines that the program needs in order to train residents in specific skill sets.
Due to his leadership, service, and dedication to academic education, Dr. Jeziorczak was selected as a Caterpillar Faculty Scholars Fellow in 2020 and as a member of the Senior Advisory Council for the inaugural Faculty Academy of Medical Educators in Simulation (FAMES) in 2022, both by the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria. He was recognized by the Peoria community as a recipient of the 40 Leaders Under 40 Award from InterBusiness Issues magazine in 2019. Dr. Jeziorczak’s influence amongst his peers is evident by his election as President of the Peoria Medical Society in 2022.
Dr. Jeziorczak’s clinical knowledge is extensive, as exemplified by an impressive amount of refereed publications, numerous invited local, regional, and national presentations, and sponsored research grants and projects. His research interests include immunology, surgical techniques, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and quality improvement.
