Dr. Leman was born in Bloomington, Illinois and grew up in Danvers, IL. He completed his undergraduate education at Illinois Wesleyan University, where he was an Academic All-American football player. He received his MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. From there, he moved to Oklahoma City to complete his family medicine residency and a surgical fellowship at St. Anthony Hospital Family Medicine Program. During two years of part-time work as a family practitioner, he also completed a master’s degree in religion from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois in 2001.

From 2001 to 2009, served in a small charitable mission hospital in northern India, caring for the rural poor. He completed a diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) from Johns Hopkins University in 2003. In 2009, Jeff transitioned back to the US and became a faculty at the residency, where he loves working with residents, teaching evidence based medicine, culinary medicine, and skin diseases and procedures.

He and his wife Janet, along with their 4 children live in Morton, Illinois. Jeff enjoys sports, exercise and being outdoors. He also enjoys reading, including books on history, theology, and cognition.

My favorite part of my work here is to watch our residents growing into incredible, compassionate and gifted clinicians.
