About
Dr. Marshall received his medical degree from Southern Illinois University, Springfield, in 1983, served his internship and began his residency training here at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago in 1988. He is certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and received a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care from the American Board of Surgery.
A native of Illinois, Dr. Marshall joined our faculty in 1989. He is Chief, Section of Trauma Surgery and the Attending Team Leader of the Trauma/Critical Care Service for our General Surgery Residency Program. He has received several 'Faculty Teaching Awards' from the residents: 1990, 1991, 1997, 2001, 2007, and 2014.
Dr. Marshall holds memberships in numerous surgical societies, was President of the Illinois Surgical Society, 2012-13 and Chair, Illinois Chapter ACS Committee on Trauma, 2004-2010. Dr. Marshall is the Director, Trauma Program and the Director, Bariatric Surgery Program for our main teaching facility. He is on the active staff of all three Peoria hospitals.
Dr. Marshall became Chair of the Department of Surgery in September of 2015.
