About

Dr. Hsiao earned his doctorate from an APA-accredited clinical psychology program at the University of Toledo, Ohio, in 2015.  As part of the Ph.D. training, he completed a pre-doctoral internship training at the Colorado State University Health Network, an integrated mental health and medical service training center. Subsequently, he pursued and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in University Mental Health, with Health Psychology Emphasis, at the University of South Florida Counseling Center and Student Health Services. Between Fall 2016 and Spring 2023, he worked at Indiana University-Bloomington, Counseling and Psychological Services (IU-B CAPS). During this period, he served as a staff clinical psychologist, coordinator for assessment and research, APA-accredited internship training program supervisor, and APA-accredited internship training program committee member. He was also part of the initiative members for diversity outreach embedded therapist at both the Office of International Services (OIS) and the Asian Culture Center (ACC). In September 2023, he joined the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) to establish the Adult Psychological Assessment Clinic and has served as the director of Psychological Assessment Services. He also started to serve as the Director of Scholarship programs for the psychiatry residency program in 2024.

On the professional level, Dr. Hsiao offers evidence-based services for the community, including psychological testing and individual therapy for adults. He provided comprehensive psychological testing for the assessment of personality, social or emotional difficulties, memory problems, and attention and executive functioning (such as ADHD evaluation), among others. Dr. Hsiao also accepts referrals for outpatient therapy for depression, anxiety, personality disorders, grief, self-esteem, relationship problems, cross-cultural issues, and others.

On a personal level, he likes jogging, swimming, hiking, and traveling. He is trilingual and fluent in English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese.
