About

I practice as a pediatric intensivist, taking care of patients in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and pediatric intermediate care unit (PIC) at the OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois (CHOI). I joined the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in Peoria in 2017 and have been the Program Director for the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship since we welcomed our first class of fellows in 2022. In 2024, I became the Medical Director of the Pediatric Critical Care Unit (PICU + PIC). My primary academic interests are safety culture and medical education. I’m part of a pediatric healthcare family, as my wife is a pediatric hematology-oncology nurse at CHOI, and together we have 3 lovely children. I enjoy playing/watching sports, music, and hiking.

Why I Chose Peoria

I was initially drawn to Peoria due to the growing programs within pediatric critical care that were on the immediate horizon. However, what has impressed me the most since coming here has been the people and the relationships I have been fortunate to build. Our pediatric critical care team is incredibly collaborative and supportive of one another. Furthermore, I feel blessed to practice in an environment where I am able to care for critically ill children (including those requiring ECMO, cardiac surgery, continuous renal replacement therapy, etc.), yet live in such a low-stress city like Peoria. The quality of life cannot be beat, and I have found Peoria to be a fantastic place to raise a family.
