About
Why I Chose Peoria
I chose Peoria because it offered a unique opportunity to lead the Plastic and Reconstructive surgery services at OSF St. Francis, particularly focusing on the new cancer center and oncological reconstruction. The region presented a significant clinical need, serving a large catchment area extending from the suburbs of Chicago to St. Louis. Additionally, I was drawn to the chance to address the needs of an underserved community in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Peoria also allowed me to contribute to medical education by training general surgery residents and medical students from the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, while collaborating on research projects with these students. The more suburban environment of Peoria appealed to me as well, offering a balance between professional growth and personal life. Lastly, I was excited to explore the outdoor recreational activities and the overall quality of life that Peoria offers.
