UICOMP Students Take Part in Annual MLK Luncheon

Peoria medical students in the Urban Health Program took part in the 31st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Luncheon at the Peoria Civic Center. The UICOMP students provided blood pressure screenings and information on cardiovascular health. Student participants included Milon Hutchison, Rosemary Ogbonna, and Nmerichi Nwakanma. Keynote speaker at the annual luncheon was former US Attorney General Eric Holder, Jr.

The Urban Health Program at UICOMP offers a variety of programs and services for students who are underrepresented in medicine (URiM) specifically African-Americans, Native Americans, Latinos/as, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
