UICOMP Residency Alum Highlighted in Emergency Medicine Residency Association Article
An alumni of the UICOMP Emergency Medicine residency program was recently featured in this online article from Emergency Medicine Residency Association. See what Jeremy Sturgell, MD, has to share in “What it’s like being an Emergency Physician at a Rural Critical Access Hospital.”
Sturgell practices in southwest Missouri at a small hospital with 7,000 Emergency Department visits annually. “The most rewarding aspect of my practice is having the opportunity to practice in the rural county where I grew up. There isn’t a single shift that goes by when I don’t know most of the patients I see or their families,” Sturgell says.
“Also, when a patient asks you if you have your own private practice because they would like you to be their doctor. I think that is one of the highest compliments we can receive as emergency physicians.”
