The Peoria regional campus welcomed UIC Chancellor Marie Lynn Miranda to our campus March 26 for a student-led tour, conversations with faculty and researchers, and meeting with campus leaders. The Chancellor also enjoyed a reception with faculty, staff, students and leadership from healthcare affiliates.
Chancellor Miranda stated that the work of the Peoria campus is essential to the University’s mission of serving a diverse population, and she credited UICOMP’s strong collaboration with its healthcare partners – Carle Health and OSF HealthCare.
She saw firsthand how technology enhances medical student learning and how virtual reality supports physician in surgery planning as well as augments student learning. She also heard more about the UICOMP faculty-created app for learning histology and the lab work of researchers in neuroscience, cancer, and Alzheimer’s.
