Theresa Tracy Trot Donates $45K to Cancer Research at UICOMP
Last week representatives from the Theresa Tracy Trot stopped by the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria to deliver a check for $45,044.54 to support pancreatic research. This donation was the result of hard work and creative fundraising efforts in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The major fundraiser was the annual Theresa Tracy Trot held virtually November 7 and which also included a silent auction. The group held other fundraisers throughout the year, and the results of their effort also included a gift in the same amount to support Illinois Cancer Care.
The Theresa Tracy Trot Strive to Survive not-for-profit was created in memory of Theresa Ann (Naramore) Tracy, who after battling pancreatic cancer, passed away in 2010 at age 44. The mission is to increase survivability of pancreatic cancer through awareness and to support the advancement of a cure. Funds raised go to help supporting pancreatic cancer research at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, and to Illinois Cancer Care for care and treatment of those with pancreatic cancer
Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. with more than 47,000 deaths annually. About 91 percent of patients die within five years of diagnosis.
