College of Medicine Graduation is May 1
Fifty members of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria will receive their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree during a virtual commencement ceremony at 10 am. Students will attend an in-person “hooding” event beginning at 12 noon.
The Class of 2021 is the first class in UICOMP history to complete all four years of medical school in Peoria. Previous classes completed their first year in Urbana before coming to Peoria to complete the final three years of their medical education. Another unique aspect of this class is that fact that they completed their training during a global pandemic, which involved a halt to clinical rotations and national exams.
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) educates 260 medical students and nearly 300 physician residents annually. The College of Medicine is home to the Cancer Research Center, the Center for Outcomes Research, and a collaborator in Jump Simulation.
