Cystic Fibrosis Center

The Children’s Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Center is one of 115 accredited centers in the USA . The multispecialty healthcare team cares for about 100 pediatric and adult patients with cystic fibrosis from 27 surrounding counties.

We participate in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s national registry and quality improvement program, and our patients’ results are better than the national median for growth and lung function.

Hemoglobinopathy/Sickle Cell Program

This program serves patients from birth to 18 years of age. It is jointly sponsored by the Department of Pediatrics of UICOMP and Children’s Hospital of Illinois, and is housed at the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate clinic on the first floor of Children’s Hospital of Illinois.

Our team of board-certified pediatric hematologist/oncologists, sickle cell nurses, counselors, and child life specialists work together with other subspecialists to meet the complex needs of these unique patients and their families. We see patients throughout Central Illinois, many of whom attend our IDPH-sponsored Outreach Clinics. These clinics are held at several sites in the region.
