The Department of Psychiatry, in collaboration with Carle Health, offers comprehensive inpatient psychiatry services with 44 adult beds. Our team provides evaluation and treatment for a wide range of psychiatric disorders. We adopt an interdisciplinary approach that combines psychiatric, psychological, nursing, therapy, social work, and case management services to deliver exceptional patient care. The inpatient units are located on the sixth and eighth floors of Methodist Hospital, offering secure, modern, and comfortable environments for patients and their families. Our treatment programs are designed to prioritize patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality.
Recognizing the unique needs of each patient, we have specialized our inpatient units into four distinct areas: acute, mood and anxiety, geriatric, and general. This allows us to provide tailored care rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Inpatient Psychiatry plays a pivotal role in providing valuable exposure to psychiatric medicine for students and residents. Our dedicated team of University of Illinois faculty psychiatrists ensures high-quality teaching and supervision on the inpatient units. The clinical experience encompasses both acute and chronic psychiatric care, with the ultimate goal of transitioning patients to our partial hospitalization program or outpatient setting.
