KBStrong Donates $50,000 to Support College of Medicine’s Glioblastoma Research

The KBStrong Foundation presented a check for $50,000 to support glioblastoma and brain tumor research at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP). The gift is the result of fundraising efforts of the Foundation, including BrownFest held each August and the Kevin Brown Memorial Tournament of Champions held in November. This gift brings the KBStrong total to $250,000 contributed to support research at the college of medicine in Peoria.
The funds will support research in Peoria where physicians and laboratory researchers are working to better understand brain cancer. Their work focuses on advancing knowledge, improving techniques, and finding solutions to impede tumor growth and to create more effective clinical treatments and better patient outcomes.
The KBStrong Foundation is named in memory of Washington Community High School head basketball coach Kevin Brown who lost his battle with glioblastoma in June 2019. In addition to its support of research, the Foundation also supports patients and families currently battling the disease through its Warrior Fund.
