Investiture Honors Jean “Jay” Clore, PhD, with Dr. Timothy J. Bruce Professorship

The Peoria regional campus celebrated the investiture of Jean Clore, PhD, as the inaugural recipient of the Dr. Timothy J. Bruce Professorship in Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. The ceremony was held May 15, 2025, at the Country Club of Peoria.
Dr. Clore serves as professor of clinical psychiatry and director of academic programs in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine.
“Our institution is fortunate to have faculty members like Dr. Bruce an Dr. Clore, whose passion, expertise, and commitment to excellence elevate our academic community. They exemplify the caliber of educators and mentors who make the University of Illinois College of Medicine a leader in medical education and patient care,” said Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs Robert Barish, MD, with the University of Illinois Chicago.
Executive Dean Mark Rosenblatt added, “A named professorship is one of the highest honors in academia, recognizing exceptional leadership, scholarship, and dedication to advancing medicine. Professorships provide crucial funding support for groundbreaking research, innovative thinking, and mentorship of future physicians and scientists.”
Regional Dean of the Peoria Campus Meenakshy Aiyer said, “Dr. Clore is a passionate advocate for leadership development among women in medicine, and at UICOMP, she has been a driving force in empowering female colleagues and learners alike, fostering a culture where every voice is heard and valued.”
Timothy Bruce, PhD, is professor emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at UICOMP where he served with distinction for over three decades. Throughout his career he was committed to advancing mental health education, clinical excellence, and public understanding. His work has shaped generations of clinicians and educators, and this named professorship honors his legacy.
A professorship is a special gift made by donors to elevate opportunities in academic medicine. Professorships provide financial support to faculty for advancing their work in teaching and mentoring, scholarship and/or research and discovery. Professorships are endowments that also honor the legacy and/or career of its namesake.
