College of Medicine Shares Insight on Med School and Training with “The Path to Medicine” Presentation Feb. 26
The Path to Medicine
The community is invited to learn about the education and training completed by doctors during “The Path to Medicine” set for Thursday, February 26, at 6 pm, at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Representatives of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) will share insight on the education and training that goes into becoming a physician during “The Path to Medicine” presentation, part of the Medical Conversations series which is a collaboration between UICOMP and the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Attendees are invited to attend the Peoria Riverfront Museum’s “Deep Rivers, Long Roads” exhibit following the program.
The presentation will feature UICOMP faculty discussing requirements for medical school admission, the med school experience, and residency and fellowship opportunities. Current medical students and residents will also participate in the program. Since its founding in 1970, UICOMP has awarded 2,417 MD degrees and has provided residency and fellowship training to 2,781 physicians. Currently, 271 medical students are enrolled in the four-year curriculum, and nearly 400 residents and fellows are completing their training.
