College of Medicine Hosts Images of Medicine Exhibit Through January 30
Introduction
The Library of the Health Sciences located at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria offers “Images of Medicine: Illustration, Photography, Technology” which offers insight into the historic role that images have played in medicine and medical education. The exhibit includes examples of medical images from reprints of the early illustration work of Vesalius (1543) to modern technologies like the HISTOLOGIC app. Additional highlights include 20th century photography equipment used at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) and glass lantern slides created at St. Francis Hospital (OSF).
The exhibit includes two areas, one in the UICOMP Lobby and the other in the library. It is currently open and runs through January 30, 2026. The exhibit it open to the public from 9 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday. However, the exhibit will be closed from December 24, 2025, through January 1, 2026, and on January 19, 2026.
