College of Medicine Faculty Share Insight on “Back-to-School Health” During August 20 Event at Museum
Introduction
University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) faculty will share insights and practical tips for navigating the school year and helping students succeed. “Back-to-School Health: Helping Every Child Thrive” will be presented on Thursday, August 20, at 6 pm, at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Part of the “Medical Conversations” series, the presentation is a collaboration between the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) and the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
From nutrition and sleep to mental health and learning differences, a panel of pediatricians will share practical, evidence-based tips to start the school year off right. This free presentation is geared toward parents, teachers, caregivers and family members who are interested in tools and resources to help children.
The presentation will feature three UICOMP faculty physicians from the Department of Pediatrics: Amy Christison, MD; Harry Yuan, DO; and Angeli Stevens, DO. The evening will include a discussion of helpful strategies as well as local resources available to provide help and expertise. The event is free, but attendees are asked to RSVP online.
Attendees are invited to attend the Peoria Riverfront Museum’s “Toytopia” exhibit following the program. Toytopia is an immersive, hands-on exhibit for visitors of all ages and provides a chance to explore the world of toys from the early 1900s to today. It includes beloved classic board games to video and build-your-own favorites.
