Sara Krzyzaniak, MD, was awarded the American College of Emergency Physicians 2019 Junior Faculty Teaching Award. She was one of five recipients nationwide chosen for the award presented to an outstanding educator who demonstrates superior clinical teaching. The award is designed to support the academic achievement of emergency medicine faculty.
Krzyzaniak is assistant program director and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria. In her role at UICOMP, she has played an instrumental role in physician education at all levels, from faculty development and residency training to medical student education. She created and implemented an intern preparatory course that earned her the UICOMP Curriculum Innovation Award in 2014, and she has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and abstracts.
