Goal
This elective is designed to provide students an advanced clinical experience with selected psychiatry faculty members. The overall goal is to improve the student’s clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders, over and beyond what was learned in the M-3 Psychiatry Clerkship, and to gain more exposure to subspecialties (e.g., community psychiatry, consult liaison, psychotherapy, forensic psychiatry, etc.). Some rotations may require preparation of a paper, case study, or other scholarly project.
Objectives
At the end of this course, the student will be able to: (1) Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluation; (2) Formulate and implement an appropriate treatment plan; and (3) Manage ongoing care of patients with psychiatric disorders.
