Dr. Darr, a Nebraska native, earned his B.A. in Biopsychology from Hastings College and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Miami. As a graduate student, his work primarily focused on development of the human central nervous system, and his research helped identify mechanisms driving neural stem cell differentiation during embryonic neurogenesis. As a post-doctoral research fellow at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, the nation’s largest research center for spinal cord injury, he worked on numerous projects devising regenerative therapeutic strategies to address spinal cord injury and neuropathic diseases. A proponent of active learning strategies, Dr. Darr has taught neuroscience concepts to graduate and medical students at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and College of Nursing and Health Sciences, respectively.
