Postdoctoral Program Admissions
Briefly describe in narrative form important information to assist potential applicants in assessing their likely fit with your program. This description must be consistent with the program’s policies on intern selection and practicum and academic preparation requirements:
The clinical psychology program is a traditional practice program in Clinical Psychology. Fellows spend at least 50% of their time each week providing direct clinical services adults to adults including intake / triage, individual therapy, and psychological assessments. Fellows are required to achieve at least 1,000 hours of face-to-face patient contact by the end of the fellowship.
The aim of the program is to provide advanced training in adult clinical psychology. We prepare psychologists for a career in which they contribute to the field of psychology and make a difference in their communities.
The fellow receives advanced training in the following professional competencies:
- Integration of Science and Practice
- Individual and Cultural Diversity
- Ethical and Legal Matters
- Psychological Assessment
- Psychotherapeutic Interventions
- Professional Values and Behaviors
- Academic and Organizational Contributions
By the end of the fellowship, the postdoctoral fellow should attain advanced competence in the knowledge-base and clinical skills for these required areas. They should be able to function independently in a similar clinical situation.
Fellowship positions are full-time, salaried, and one year in duration. Fellows have the opportunity to sign on for a second year at time of admission or mid-way through their program. Agreement to a second year, when applicable, is decided upon by the postdoctoral fellow and the director of the fellowship program.

Fellows must work at least 1,750 hours over a minimum of 50 weeks. They must achieve at least 1,000 hours of face-to-face direct contact with patients to successfully graduate from the fellowship. This may be achieved through a combination of direct intervention and direct contact assessment hours.

- Potential applicants must hold a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA/CPA accredited program. All doctoral degree requirements (including dissertation) must be completed from an APA/CPA accredited program by the fellowship start date.
- If the doctoral degree has not yet been conferred, a letter from the director of the graduate program at your college/university verifying completion of all doctoral degree requirements is required to pass a background check.
- Complete an APA/CPA-accredited internship by the start date.
- Pass a background check.
