Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (QIPS) Curriculum

Dr. Rishabh Singh is presented the patient safety award by OSF Saint Francis leadership

Through our longitudinal QIPS curriculum, we aim to equip our residents with a systems thinking framework and the skills to effect safer, more efficient patient care.

Our curriculum includes:

  • 1st year: Intro to QIPS principles through didactics, modules, and team activities
  • 2nd year: Mentored group QI project
    • Prior topics include: prevention of CAUTI and CLABSI, development of a C. difficile testing algorithm, pneumonia management best practices
  • Department-wide Morbidity & Mortality conferences
  • Additional opportunities to participate in:
    • Department of Medicine Advisory Committee for Peer Review
    • Hospital-wide Root Cause Analyses, Performance Improvement, and other QIPS projects
