Procedural Skills Training
Procedural skills

We foster residents’ development of strong procedural skills under the individual guidance of experienced teaching faculty. All second-year residents rotate with our procedure teaching service, UCAPS (University Consult and Procedure Service), and can opt to take additional procedural electives.
Residents will have the opportunity to perform:
- Paracentesis
- Thoracentesis
- Vascular access: central lines, hemodialysis lines, midlines, PICC
- Arterial lines
- Lumbar puncture
- Arthrocentesis (shoulder, knee, wrist, ankle)
- Skin biopsies
