Faculty

Perhaps our department’s greatest treasure is our faculty. We currently have 53 actively practicing emergency medicine physicians who are the basis of your Emergency Medicine Faculty. This is a diverse, energetic group who are exceptional clinicians and dedicated, enthusiastic educators. As a group they provide a vast range of experience and expertise. For example, eight of our faculty have been practicing and teaching emergency medicine for more than 20 years while thirteen have joined us within the past 3 years. We have five double-boarded faculty, one simulate trained fellow, two who are Register Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and others with master’s degrees in business administration, public health, medical management, and two who are currently working on masters in medical education. Our faculty also includes the area Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Director, Director of Flight Life helicopter program, and the Vice-President of Quality and Safety for OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Several of our faculty are deeply involved with the Jump Simulation, including the center’s Director and Chief Medical Officer, its Director of Curriculum and its Director of Research.

A few of our faculties other areas of special interest, besides simulation training and education, includes educational research, ultrasound training, tactical emergency medicine, resuscitation research, sickle cell disease research, physician wellness, aeromedical research, and improving the quality and safety of patient care.
