Tiffany Abrego, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine and is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of Illinois. Dr. Abrego specializes in working with children and adolescents with behavioral and mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, and other behavior disorders. She also specializes in psychological assessment of learning disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, cognitive impairment, and personality testing. Her other interests include family/systems therapy and health psychology for those with chronic illnesses.
Dr. Abrego received her bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Riverside, and her masters and doctoral degrees at Eastern Michigan University. She completed her APA-accredited doctoral internship at Hawthorn Center, the only state-run child and adolescent psychiatric hospital in Michigan. Dr. Abrego has a variety of experience working in inpatient and outpatient therapy, medical clinics, and neuropsychological testing clinics. She has also worked as an adjunct professor teaching courses at an undergraduate level, including: stress and relaxation, introductory psychology, introductory psychotherapy, and prejudice and discrimination.
On a personal note, Dr. Abrego is an East Peoria native. She completed much of her training and experience throughout California and Michigan, but came back to Illinois to serve the Peoria area. Dr. Abrego lives in Washington with her husband Tyler and 4-year-old son, Gabriel. She enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends, painting furniture, and playing board games.
