Dr. Smith did her residency training in family medicine at University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. During residency, she had the honor of serving as co-chief resident before graduating in 2012.

After graduation, Dr. Smith worked in an underserved area in eastern Illinois providing full-spectrum family medicine including maternity care at a critical-access hospital and rural health clinic. During her time working with the underserved, Dr. Smith had medical students from local medical schools shadowing in her clinic which sparked her interest in teaching. She joined the faculty last year and loves being involved with teaching residents and medical students both in- and outpatient medicine. Dr. Smith is enjoys practicing full-spectrum family medicine including maternity care, women’s health care, procedures, and dermatology.

She and her husband, Tyler, are glad to be back in the Peoria area. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

As the need for primary care physicians steadily increases, it is exciting to be part of a team of faculty dedicated to training residents to become well-equipped and well-rounded family physicians.
