Connecting to the UICOMP Wireless Networks

Welcome to the University of Illinois College of Medicine Wireless Network homepage. Here you will find instructions on setting up your wireless adapter using the built-in software in the Windows and Mac OS X operating systems.

General Secure Wireless Setup

What you need:

  • A laptop or desktop computer outfitted with a wireless network adapter that is 802.11a/g/n compatible
  • A supported operating system (Windows 7/8.1/10 or MacOS)
  • A valid UIC netid and password

Secure Wireless Overview

UICOMP wireless network provides encrypted connectivity for current faculty, staff and students. To use this network, users enter their UICOMP login credentials once to get started and a unique certificate is pushed to the device, eliminating the need to reenter login credentials for subsequent uses.

  • Students can use UICOMP-Student
  • Faculty and Staff personal devices can use UICOMP-Secure
  • Guests of the University can use the UICOMP-Guest wireless network

You can use the instructions below, by using the relevant SSID information for your campus.

Guest Wireless instructions

UICOMP-Guest wireless is for guests of the University. UICOMP-Guest will be accessible by a username and password. The username and password will change weekly and either the Front Desk or the CIS department can provide it. Faculty and staff may request access to the UICOMP Wireless Guest Network for their visitors.

Connecting to UICOMP-Guest Wireless

When connecting to Guest network for the first-time browsers may ask for security exceptions. Please follow these instructions to continue to Captive Portal

Sponsoring Visitor Access

Visitors must be sponsored by an active member of the UICOMP faculty or staff. More information to come.
