Visiting Student Rotation (Away Rotation) Scholarship for UICOMP Students

Criteria

  1. Rising M4 UICOMP student applying into residency the coming fall
  2. Away rotation must be with an institution with whom UI COM has an affiliation agreement and that the UICOMP registrar has approved for credit
  3. Demonstrated financial need as verified by the Office of Financial Aid
  4. Priority given to students whose intended specialty requires an away rotation, e.g. emergency medicine, or students for whom multiple away rotations are a significant factor in achieving competitiveness – currently defined as dermatology and surgical subspecialties
  5. Students are eligible for funding for one rotation per academic year
  6. Maximum funding is $750, although typical funding will be around $500, depending on number of applications
  7. Funding can cover travel and/or accommodations

Process

  1. Applications are to be submitted at least six weeks prior to the start of the rotation. Students who are notified of acceptance to a program with less than six weeks’ notice can request an exception by submitting the dated acceptance letter.
  2. A committee will review applications on or near the 1st of each month
  3. Students will be notified of decisions via their UIC email
  4. Work with the Office of Student Affairs to determine eligible expenses
  5. Funds are provided only through reimbursement through the student’s UIC account
  6. Receipts must be submitted to Student Affairs within 30 days of the end of the rotation
