Center for Outcomes Research
As a member of the largest medical school in the country, the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOM-P) provides a unique community to engage with in terms of conducting outcomes research. Peoria has a stable population of patients that are connected to their families and the community, and high-quality dedicated providers, making an excellent opportunity to engage in research needed to make improvements in health care quality and outcomes. There are a diverse number of community partners that are interested in establishing Peoria as one of the nation's leaders in health outcomes research. The willingness to work together is a testament to the desire and passion to provide quality healthcare to the community, now and in the future. The partners recognize the possible benefits, not just for them but also from healthcare and the community.
In 2011, the UICOM-P Center for Outcomes Research (COR) commenced operations and became a reality. The COR exists to conduct multidisciplinary, collaborative research in health systems, services, and health outcomes. The COR works with the UICOM-P clinical departments, affiliated hospitals, and community organizations to conduct and publish the outcomes of interventions to improve the quality of healthcare in the community.
As per the mission of the University of Illinois to create knowledge that transforms our views of the world and, through sharing and application, transforms the world, the COR will create knowledge that could transform healthcare delivery. In order to excel as an internationally recognized center for research and creativity, the COR will translate knowledge of effective therapies/interventions at the right time at the most appropriate site.
The COR is an interdisciplinary research unit affiliated with the UICOM-P. The COR works with health outcomes researchers throughout the nation and the world.
Dr. Carl V. Asche, PhD, Directs the COR.
