Cancer Research Facility
Department/Program: Cancer Biology & Pharmacology
A new 24,000 square foot research building containing almost 20,000 square feet of laboratory space with supporting offices.
To expand our successful cancer biology research program and contribute to finding a cure for cancer. Internationally recognized cancer researcher Dr. Jasti Rao was recruited in 2001. Dr. Rao and the other researchers in his Cancer Biology Program have brought over $30 million of research funding to UICOMP and our community. One of Dr. Rao’s discoveries is patented. All of our existing laboratory space is now in use. Moving the Cancer Biology research program into the new building will give our cancer research more space to expand and allow us to recruit more talented researchers. It will also free up existing lab space to support our other laboratory research programs.
