SAMIR GUPTA, MD

Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery
Chief, Section of Surgical Critical Care
Dr. Samir Gupta, originally from Michigan, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago. He received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Chicago Pritzer School of Medicine. He completed a Surgical Internship at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Dr. Gupta completed his General Surgery Residency and a Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Michigan State University. Dr. Gupta is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is board eligible in Surgical Critical Care.
He is Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery, Chief, Section of Surgical Critical Care, Director of the Critical Care Conference and Attending Team Leader of the 'Blue Service' for the General Surgery Residency Program. Dr. Gupta is the recipient of many Dept of Surgery resident and student elected teaching awards as well as the 2001-2002 UICOMP ‘Outstanding Teaching Award’.
Dr. Gupta and his wife Dr. Julie Wohrley reside in Peoria with their three children.
