Scholarship and Research

Scientific advancement remains a fundamental aspect of our academic mission. In addition to making contributions of new knowledge to the field through research, our faculty take a scholarly approach to their teaching of students, residents, and professional, as well as to their clinical work.

Past and present research has investigated topics such as cognitive behavioral therapy, combined pharmacological and psychological treatments, in-school health care, cardiac illness-related stress, and methods of student, resident, and professional education.

Departmental faculty have served as consultants to mental health agencies, regional and national businesses, and academic programs on topics including outcomes system management, program evaluation, service integration, suicide prevention, and the integration of evidence-based practices.

The scholarly works of faculty have been disseminated through regional, national, and international presentations as well as publications including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, reviews, professional training materials, and books.

Faculty inform their teaching with the latest scientific advances and clinical applications. They teach and practice an evidence-based approach to clinical service that integrates the best available research with clinical expertise, in the context of the individual patient characteristics, culture, preferences, and resources.

Examples of past and present projects as well as selected publications and presentations can be found through the links at the right of the page. For more information on the work of individual faculty members, please see the “Faculty” page.
