Our Mission

The Department of Cancer Biology and Pharmacology is dedicated to excellence in research, teaching, and service. Department faculty continually seek extramural funding to develop and maintain outstanding basic science and applied biomedical research programs. The focus of these innovative research programs include cancer biology and neuroscience research, with translational research (bench-to-bedside) as the ultimate goal.

The Department also recognizes the primary importance of providing superior education in pharmacology to pre-clinical medical students, as well as advanced research training to postdoctoral research associates and medical residents. In addition, faculty are committed to national and international research collaborations and to scholarly teaching, research and service activities throughout the University, the scientific community and central Illinois.
