Mark Holterman, MD joined our faculty in January 2011 as Associate Professor of Surgery. He came to us from a position as Associate Professor and Chief, Division of Pediatric Surgery at University of Illinois at Chicago. He was also Surgeon-in-Chief, Division of Pediatric Surgery, Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois, and an attending pediatric surgeon at Rush Children’s Hospital, Rush University Medical Center.
Dr. Holterman graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in Biology and received his M.D. and PhD at University of Virginia. He was a resident in General Surgery at University of Virginia and completed a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at University of Washington, Seattle. He spent 2 years as a Research Associate at the Clinical Research Institute in Montreal before joining the faculties of University of Illinois at Chicago and Rush Medical College.
Dr. Holterman is Board Certified in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of many medical societies and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.
He is married to Ai-Xuan Holterman, MD. They have three children.
