Vascular Neurology Fellowship

Vascular Neurology Fellowship

Thank you for your interest in our ACGME accredited Vascular Neurology Fellowship. As our Vascular Fellow you will actively participate in the interdisciplinary management of patients with cerebrovascular diseases in the critical care unit and both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will also be given the opportunity to be a co-investigator for on-going stroke trials and gain experience in community education.

Our stroke center has received the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). This designation as a Primary Stroke Center is the first such accreditation granted in the State of Illinois. Certification is granted on a two year review cycle. We are second in the nation to be certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and the first in Illinois and the Midwest, which further distinguishes the accomplishments of our team.

The Comprehensive Stroke Center, located within the Illinois Neurological Institute at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, is one of the most experienced in the nation. We manage over 1,100 stroke and TIA patients every year and have the highest thrombolysis rates. The neurologists, neurosurgeons and interventional neuroradiologists work cohesively to ensure that stroke patients receive the most advanced and comprehensive management. In addition, the OSF Stroke Network is the nation’s largest rural stroke network, which consists of 25 participating hospitals in 11 counties throughout Central Illinois.
