Dr Fischer received her medical degree from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine.  She completed an internal medicine residency at Loyola University Medical Center and a General Medicine Fellowship at Northwestern University.
Dr Fischer is a graduate of the Stanford Faculty Development Course in Clinical Teaching.  She is published in the field of medical education and frequently mentors residents and medical students in research projects.  She is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.   Dr. Fischer is the past recipient of the UICOMP Outstanding Teaching Award and Outstanding Service Award.   She is the three-time recipient of her department’s Faculty Teacher of the Year Award.   Dr Fischer served as the Internal Medicine Associate Program Director and as the Preliminary Medicine Program Director between 2002 and 2011
Dr. Fischer joined UICOMP in 2002.  In July 2011, Dr Fischer assumed the role of Assistant Dean for Faculty Development.  She continues to serve in the Department of Internal Medicine as a clinician educator as well.
